2008-11-22 - Bears IR Fred Miller (Posted By: Operator)
The Bears placed Fred Miller on injured reserve ending his season, and likely his career. With Chris Williams now active he wasn't really needed. Brandon Rideau was elevated from the practice squad. I wouldn't be surprised to see him on the field Sunday with Marty Booker hurting.

2008-11-09 - Grossman Fucking Sucks (Posted By: Operator)
Rex Grossman rekindled memories of Jonathan Quinn Sunday afternoon as the Bears lost 21-14. This motherfucker should be released tomorrow morning and shouldn't have played in the 4th quarter. Additionally, I hope he gets a flat tire on the way one and someone on Lake Shore Drive swerves and hits him. Cock.

2008-11-03 - Bears Down Lions; Lose Orton (Posted By: Operator)
The Bears moved to 5-3 and took over sole possession of first place, but lost QB Kyle Orton in the process. Orton suffered what is bring reported as a high ankle sprain and will not be behind center for the show down against undefeated Tennessee next Sunday at Soldier Field.

2008-10-20 - Bears Down Vikings (Posted By: Operator)
Kyle Orton should have had 5 TD passes and over 300 yards again. Instead he finished with 2 and a Bears win. He's quietly been one of the best QBs in the NFL this year, and the receiving core has exceeded expectations. The defense has been terrible.

2008-10-14 - Bears Give Another One Away (Posted By: Operator)
The Bears lost a lead with 11 seconds left and fell to 3-3. The games was plagued by lack of execution on the Bears. Kyle Orton continues to prove coaches right for their selection of him over Grossman.

2008-10-14 - Metcalf Suspended For Steroids (Posted By: Operator)
This is pretty funny. On a side note, I would mind someone giving Lovie a really bad wedgie.

2008-10-06 - Bears Rip Lions; Take Over First (Posted By: Operator)
Kyle Orton threw for over 300 yards, the Bears won big, and are in first place in the NFC North. This is pretty much what every sports writer figured for the Bears at the onset of the season. Nothing surprising here.

2008-10-03 - Harris Suspended (Posted By: Operator)
The Bears suspended DT Tommie Harris for violating team rules. He apparently missed a treatment session for his knee and got into an argument with Lovie. The obvious here is that Harris has been terrible so far anyway and might actually benefit from the downtime.

2008-09-30 - Ex-Bear and drunkard catches on with Bengals (Posted By: Benny)
Knucklehead Cedric Benson has managed to find a job with the terrible Cincinnati Bengals. He will be backing up Chris Perry and should have no problem fitting in with the rest of the felons that make up that team.

What a loser.

2008-09-29 - Bears Win Again On Sunday Night (Posted By: Operator)
If only the Bears could play all their games on prime time... Donovan McNabb is pretty much a bitch and on Sunday night, he was the Bears bitch.

2008-09-24 - Bears Waive Bradley (Posted By: Operator)
The Bears added some loser and got rid of another one: WR Mark Bradley. Add another bust to Angelo's draft list. If the Bears don't make the playoffs, Jerry Angelo should lose his job and someone should beat him up.

2008-09-21 - They are who we thought they were (Posted By: Benny)
The Bears let another mediocre team steal a victory from them late in the game. This time it was worse, as the Bears had a 10 point lead with three minutes to go.

The defense picked the absolute worst time to suck it up and make boneheaded decisions (i.e. Tillman's retaliatory attack from 20+ yards away that kept Tampa's drive alive). You can't let Brian Griese drive the length of the field (in back to back drives) if you are a "Top 5" defense. The lack of sacks was also disturbing given that Griese threw the ball over 60 times.

Some bright spots: Matt Forte continues to look like a real weapon on offensive. He had one of the better all around performances that I have seen from a Bears RB in a few years. Brandon Lloyd looks like he can be a decent downfield threat and made some great catches.

2008-09-14 - WTF Turner? (Posted By: Benny)
The Bears managed to choke away today's game by reverting to the usual bullshit offensive game plan that has plagued the team for years.

2nd and 1 on the final drive and you can't get the first down? The play calling the second half of the game was horrendous. The last drive was comical. Forte looked good when he got the ball, however holding penalties managed to do damage to most of his runs.

Orton looked bad. Overthrowing receivers when they actually manage to get open is not a good thing. Olsen coughed up two fumbles that were major momentum killers, one of which led to a touchdown by Carolina.

This was a winnable game that the Bears let get away from them.

2008-09-11 - He's Baaaack (Posted By: Operator)
The Bears brought back tackle Fred Miller yesterday. This move is being highly criticized by some after Miller's poor play last season, but this isn't a bad move. He's in better health than a year ago, and hopefully only a backup. Offensive lines are banged up league wide and acquiring a veteran whose had some success and knows the system isn't going to hurt.

2008-09-08 - Colts Stun Bears By Scoring Points (Posted By: Operator)
Sunday nights Bears victory over the Colts was pretty much as obvious as the sun rising. The fact that the Colts actually scored on the Monsters of the Midway was definitely not. "I thought Manning only scored with guys." said one TBFE member.

2008-09-08 - "Benson Could Have Done Better" (Posted By: Operator)
Despite the most impressive rookie running back debut since Payton, John Scaletta still believe the Bears are limiting themselves by not putting Benson in for more carries. Attempts to explain that Benson is no longer on the Bears have thus far failed.

2008-09-04 - Culpepper Retires (Posted By: Operator)
Giant asshole Dante Culpepper has decide to move on after whining that no one would give him a chance. I'd expect Sex Boat Duex starring him and Cedric Benson.

2008-09-03 - Bears Prepare For Colts (Posted By: Operator)
The Bears now turn their attention to this Sunday night's opener vs. the Indianapolis Colts. Preparation mainly revolves around praying Peyton Manning won't play and making fun of Cedric Benson.

2008-08-27 - Bears Release Manning Jr. (Posted By: Operator)
Rumor has it that Tricky Ricky fell out of favor with Lovie. My guess is Lovie just got tired to trying to keep the two Mannings who can't cover anyone straight. Lovie's a hillbilly.

2008-08-26 - Grossman Surprised (Posted By: Operator)
Rex Grossman admitted to the media yesterday that he was surprised that Kyle Orton was named the starter. I can only imagine this is due to the fact that he still has the photos of Lovie and the mule that protected his job all these years.

2008-08-24 - Bears Waive Monk (Posted By: Operator)
The Bears waived 7th round pick Marcus Monk and a few other nobodies. Monk's height made him a potential red zone target and if the team gets bored enough they could sign him to the practice squad. Or he could just kill himself. I don't really care.

2008-08-22 - Bears Move to 0-3 in Preseason (Posted By: Operator)
The Bears lost another meaningless game, but Kyle Orton was the story of the night as he functioned like a semi-capable NFL QB. Kevin Jones made his Bears debut.

2008-08-21 - Jones No Lock (Posted By: Operator)
The Chicago Sun Times are reporting that Kevin Jones roster spot is not guaranteed. The Bears are in a bit of a number game in regards to their mediocre offense collection. It's doubtful they will be able to carry 3 QBs, 6 WRs, and 4 RBs. As a result, Calib Hanie, Mike Hass, Marc Bradley, Marty Booker, Brandon Lloyd, and Kevin Jones are all competing for roster spots. I expect Jones will earn an extended look over several of the aforementioned names. Look for the Bears to carry 4 RBs.

2008-08-21 - Orton and Lloyd Forming Solid Rapport (Posted By: Operator)
Marino and Clayton this is not.

2008-08-18 - Bears Lose Again (Posted By: Operator)
The Bears lost their second pre-season game Saturday night, but the real losers were all of us who had to watch the game. I'm guessing Kyle Orton will be named starting QB this week. Rookie TE Kellen Davis would have gotten my vote for Brock Award.

2008-08-18 - Orton to Start for Bears (Posted By: Operator)
Coach Smith officially named ol' neck beard as the man who will lead the Bears offenses when they enter battle against the Colts. I'm guessing by week 3 the whole city will be screaming for Grossman, and by week 4 half will want Orton back and the other half will want the #3 QB. John Scaletta will want Cedric Benson and many will speculate the Bears will trade for Donovan McNabb in the offseason no matter how old or injured he gets.

2008-08-16 - Round 2 of Preseason (Posted By: Operator)
Tonight should be key in determining who will win the lose-lose battle for the Bears starting QB. The WR battle should also be closely watched. Calib Hanie is trying to cement being the 3rd string rather than the practice squad.

2008-07-15 - Bears Add Kevin Jones (Posted By: Operator)
Despite the Bears saying they had no interest in adding depth at running back and were happy with guys like PJ Pope, the Bears added former Lion and former first round pick Kevin Jones. Jones has had a terrible time staying healthy, but has been an above average player when he actually gets on the field. He also doesn't have two different alcohol related incidents in the last 3 months which is an added bonus. Cedric Benson is a cock.

2008-07-13 - Bears Interested in Simms (Posted By: Operator)
The Bears are among teams interested in Tampa Bay QB Chris Simms. The Bears seem drawn to average QBs the way Dusty Baker is drawn to light hitting utility men. Regardless of any organizational interest in Chris Simms, the members of this organization are NOT interested in his father doing any Bears games this season.

2008-07-03 - Forte Signs (Posted By: Operator)
RB Matt Forte has signed leaving just first rounder Chris Williams unsigned. In other news, undisclosed sources indicate former Bears RB Cedric Benson is a still a big asshole.

2008-07-01 - Bears Lock Up Three More Draft Picks (Posted By: Operator)
The Bears signed defensive tackle Marcus Harrison, wide receiver Earl Bennett and cornerback Zack Bowman. They have now signed 10 of their 12 picks, tops for the league so far. 1st and 2nd round picks Chris Williams and Matt Forte are the loan exceptions. Forte should look at how Benson approached his first contract and do the opposite. Then again, he should also look behind him on the depth chart, see Adrian Peterson, and ask for twice as much.

2008-06-24 - Byron Leftwich Interesting? (Posted By: Operator)
Bears personel brass called former 1st round QB Byron Leftwich an "insteresting player." Leftwich has been rumored to have dropped 25 lbs. and is looking for a team to go to camp with. I'm sure Lovie would have something stupid and lame to offer as a response to this rumor.

2008-06-23 - Another Chance to Make Fun of Benson (Posted By: Operator)
Super loser Cedric Benson has been ordered by a Texas judge to add a built-in breathalyzer to his car and to begin alcohol couseling classes. Of course, this won't prevent Benson from boating drunk. Like most lazy people, Benson still doesn't have a job. In the meantime, the Bears have moved on. Coach Smith keeps mentioning PJ Pope as one of the reasons the Bears don't need to add personel at the position.

2008-06-19 - Lovie Says No New RB (Posted By: Operator)
Lovie reiterated at the close of camp that no new RBs would be brought in to support Matt Forte. He also reiterated he's rather have his penis gnawed off my piranhas than give up his Comcast for a day.

2008-06-11 - Jones Hoping Bears Call (Posted By: Operator)
Former first round RB Kevin Jones has stated publically that he hopes the Bears call him after releasing Cedric "Arthur" Benson. Jones has had issues staying healthy, which I guess is an upgrade from having issues with booze and being a giant fucking dickhead like the previous starting RB.

2008-06-09 - M-Rob Retires As Bear (Posted By: Operator)
Marcus Robinson retired Monday as a member of the Chicago Bears. Robinson had the most productive years of his generally above average career with Chicago. With Booker back in town, the Bears may as well give the fuckin' guy a uniform. It's doubtful it'll hurt this group. Is D'wayne Bates busy?

2008-06-09 - Benson Released (Posted By: Operator)
Dickhead can drink his brains out now without worry about how it will effect his employment. "Bitch, get me a Covasier!"

2008-06-07 - Benson Drunk Again (Posted By: Operator)
Bears RB got arrested for drunk driving while waiting to go to court for drunken boating charges. The Bears should cut this loser before the league suspends him. Matt Forte is somewhere laughing.

2008-06-01 - Nice Guys Finish Last (Posted By: Operator)
According to the Chicago Sun Times the Bears have waived punter Glenn Pakulak. I'm not really sure who he is, when we signed him, what he looks like, or anything else about the man. Still, this one hits home. It reminds us that no one is untouchable.

2008-05-31 - Bears Sign Several Draft Picks (Posted By: Operator)
The Bears signed most of the players they took in the 6th and 7th round of this years draft. The most notable of the group is WR Marcus Monk who, at 6'4'' supposedly has the kind of athletic talent the Bears always seem to find a way to screw up. Last second round pick, Dan Bauzuin is back practicing with team after missing all of last year on the IR. Brian Urlacher showed up at mandatories trying to prove to everyone he's not as big of a penis as we think, but a recent Gallup Poll shows near 97% of all people still think he indeed a penis.

2008-05-13 - Gould NFLs Highest Paid Kicker (Posted By: Operator)
Worried the Bears can't finish off drives? You should be! But they won't come away empty handed with sweet kickin' Robbie Gould locked up! This should ensure years more of 9-6 games between the Bears and Lions.

2008-05-07 - TBFE Member Parties Near Bears RB! (Posted By: Operator)
TBFE member Matt Rafacz and Bears RB Cedric Benson have a few things in common: they both have attended University of Texas, and they both partied on Lake Travis over the weekend. The big difference is between the two is that Benson got maced and screamed for his mom, Rafacz didn't.

2008-05-07 - Archuleta Released (Posted By: Operator)
Thank God.

2008-04-26 - Beats Take OT Williams (Posted By: Operator)
With the 14th overall pick, the Bears selected OT Chris Williams from Vanderbilt. While not a sexy pick, the Bears offensive line was woeful last year and this had to be done.

2008-04-24 - Davis Gets An Extension (Posted By: Operator)
The Bears inked Rashied Davis to a three year contract extension with a million dollar plus signing bonus. While Davis is a valuable player, this is a curious move considering his size, speed, and big play ability are all less than spectacular. At this point one would have to assume that Bradley, Hester, Davis, and Booker are locks for roster spots, with Brandon Lloyd, Mike Hass, Brandon Rideau, and any draft picks left to battle for one (maybe two) roster spots.

2008-04-23 - Bears Willing To Work On New Deal With Hester (Posted By: Operator)
Predictably, Devin Hester wants more money than he signed a contract agreeing to play for. Of course, compared to silly ass Brian Urlacher, Hester seems like a reasonable guy- the Bears agree. The teams appears willing to begin work on a contract extension for Hester who still has two years left on his rookie deal which pays him less than one million of the two years. Hester will want #1 WR money which makes this a dangerous contract for the Bears since he is indeed not a premier WR. Still, unlike most players who want new deals, Hester has grossly outperformed his current contract.

2008-03-07 - WR Core Gets Deeper (Posted By: Operator)
The Bears inked WR Bradon Lloyd to a one year deal reuniting him with his former college coach Ron Turner, who by the way, is a blow job.

2008-03-05 - Bears Bring Back Booker (Posted By: Operator)
The Bears agreed to a 2 years deal with WR Marty Booker. Booker gives the Bears a WR who can catch and wants to be in Chicago despite our lousy QBs- two things Mush couldn't say. Damn, now I'm going to have to go dig out that Booker bobble head I have stored away somewhere....

2008-03-04 - Bears Dump Griese (Posted By: Operator)
The Bears traded QB Brian Griese to Tampa Bay for a 2009 6th round pick before they had to pay his 300,000 roster bonus. They have also pulled an offer off the table to special teams whiz Brendon Ayanbadejo who is looking for a chance to play LB. The Jaguars signed DT Jimmy Kennedy who the Bears added late last season to a low money offer sheet which the Bears were expected to match.

2008-03-02 - Briggs Agrees To Stay With Bears (Posted By: Operator)
Bears re-signed Lance Briggs to a six-year, $36 million contract, with $12 million in guarantees. Sometimes free agency isn't all it's cracked up to be. After holding out because of Chicago's use of the franchise tag last summer, Briggs didn't attrack much interest on the open market. His pricetag and fears that Briggs is a product of Lovie Smith's system scared teams off. Source: Chicago Sun Times

2008-02-19 - Bears Cut Ties With Three (Posted By: Operator)
The Bears got better over night by waiving bust free agent signing Mushin Muhammad and washed up tackle Fred Miller. They also declined the option of DT Darwin Walker who was hurt most this past season. DE Alex Brown was extended through 2011 and should regain his starting job. In the other news, the word is out the Bears are unlikely to resign Marty Booker but remain committed to resigning Rex Grossman.

2008-02-03 - Dent Shutout Again (Posted By: Operator)
The "Sack Man" Richard Dent will have to continue his wait for possible induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Bears fan can at least celebrate the fact that super cum stain Cris Carter was for the time left off as well.

2008-01-13 - Grossman Out of Chicago? (Posted By: Operator)
There are strong rumors that Grossman will attract some decent offers on the free agent market and might not take the short term, compete-for-a-job role the Bears are hoping he will. How about Bill Volek?

2007-12-07 - Start Orton (Posted By: Arme)
Now with the Bears QB situation in its usual state of mystery, I think its time to raise the "Start Orton" flag.

Really, is there any point to trotting Griese out there again. We pretty much know what he is going to give the Bears. He's not the guy to build your offense around. And since the Bears have no running game, we probably need a bit more than that.

With the season over, let's see if Orton can actually play. The Bears are going to have to either re-sign Rex for a one or two year contract (if he comes back from his injury) or draft another QB in the draft. It would make sense to see if Orton can fill the role.

2007-11-15 - Grossman to Start Sunday (Posted By: Operator)
The Bears will again to turn to Rex Grossman to lead their offense Sunday. Who really cares? Grossman was below average besides one pass against Oakland and I fully expect him to throw multiple INTs Sunday. Brian Griese's status remains up in the air for the time being.

2007-11-09 - Brown placed on IR (Posted By: Operator)
The Bears placed guard Ruban Brown on the Injured Reserve list yesterday, officially ending his season. Brown, while effective a couple previous seasons, was having a poor year and this should not be too devastating. He will be replaced on the active roster by C/G Anthony Oakley.

2007-11-07 - Time Change (Posted By: Operator)
Since the Bears and Seahawks, the NFLs last two Superbowl runner-ups, are making the Lions and Browns feel like contenders, the NFL has moved their Sunday night game to a 3 pm start. This is part of the NFL flex plan so crappy games aren't in prime time slots. TBFE is generally pleased with the change. More time to play to bean bags.

2007-10-29 - Open Letter to Cedric (Posted By: Ken Mastrole)
I'll try not to get personal here, but I'm pretty sure I hate you more than any person on earth. This includes people who abuse animals, hurt children, and the guy who cut me off on the way to work this morning. You can't block, you't can't catch, and despite the constant defense of some, you can't run. You're longest run of the year is 12 yards and you are BITCHING today that you aren't getting the ball enough. If you were a true team player, you'd have someone run over your legs a couple times so Bears fans would never have to watch you play again, nor would they feel the need to defend your fucking horseshit play. Fuck you Cedric you dirty bitch. Go Bears.

2007-10-23 - Was the Headset Out? (Posted By: Operator)
Who cares? The Bears should be trying to fix their team and make the playoffs- not making sure no one hurts Ron Turner's feelings. FYI- Ron Turner is the brother of Chargers coach Norv Turner. There are silly photos available of them on their way to prom. They look soooo 70s!

2007-10-17 - Lovie questions team's effort (Posted By: Arme)
In an almost Ditka-esque moment, Lovie questioned not only his team's play in Sunday's embarrassment to the Vikings, but also their heart.
Link to Haugh's article
I think Lovie needs to take a look in the mirror. I am not impressed with the coaching that has gone on this year. This defense can't tackle anyone. They are too interested in going for the ball and forgot that you have to contain people.

2007-09-25 - Griese's turn (Posted By: Arme)
According to an anonymous source, Brian Griese will be practicing with the first unit when the Bears resume practice on Wednesday. That would set the scene for Griese to start against the Lions on Sunday.

2007-09-23 - Ouch. Embarassed. (Posted By: Arme)
Not a whole lot of positives from this game. Grossman doesn't look like he has anything left. I have been defending him somewhat this year...but he is starting to look like Orton did a few years ago. The problem is the Bears aren't winning with an inept QB...so it looks really bad. The Bears looked OK on a few drives early, but the turnovers continue to kill any momentum. The O-line is pretty old and slow. Combined with a slow QB, you have a recipe for disaster. Not sure what can be done here...perhaps getting the pocket moving to prevent the defense from just rushing to a spot.

Let me also restate the fact that T.O. is a giant piece of shit. I loved the trash talking to the crowd which NBC made the mistake of showing. This guy is the FIRST person to quit on his team when things aren't going smoothly, but loves to trash talk when he gets a few catches. It's too bad that his suicide attempt wasn't more successful last year.

It's still early, but Green Bay has a two game lead in the division now. The Bears are going to have to do a 180 to have a chance at anything this year.

Wait, another Bear is hurt...

2007-09-18 - Tank signs with Dallas (Posted By: Arme)
ChicagoSports.com Blog
In David Haugh's latest blog post, it looks like Tank has signed a two year deal with Dallas. This is just in time for him to pump the Cowboys full of Bears defensive information and schemes. I would be surprised if he lasts that long in Dallas.

2007-09-16 - Maynard Hurt (Posted By: Operator)
Bears punter Brad Maynard is questionable for todays game. Robbie Gould could punt, and DB rookie Kevin Payne was an all-conference punter in college. Still, according to the Chicago Tribune the Bears have contacted former Eagles punter Dirk Johnson. This could a problem considering the Bears occassional difficulties moving the football on offense. However, if a new punter is brought in, I'm glad it could be someone named Dirk.

2007-09-10 - Deja Vu all over again (Posted By: Arme)
For those of you who picked the 4th quarter of the first game in the "Mike Brown injury pool", congrats. This guy should be in the Cubs pitching rotation with his luck. So much promise, but always hurt.

He was flying all over the field yesterday, and I really like the combination of him and Archuleta...but in his words, "it doesn't look good".
Say goodbye to Brown...this is probably his last stint with the Bears.

2007-09-10 - Silver linings (Posted By: Arme)
Ok. Yesterday's loss was disappointing to say the least. There was opportunity to win, regardless of what the negative hacks at both newspapers write. But, let's look at the facts:

  • The defense was amazing. Completely shut down the league MVP last year. One could argue that they played better than at any time last year. Definitely championship-caliber. With the impending loss of Mike Brown, can they keep it up? Probably.
  • When the Bears did pass out of play action, they did do fairly well. Loved the play action call out of the endzone after the Tommie Harris offsides fumble recovery.
  • The running game didn't execute...at all...needs to be fixed now. I am not going to start pining for Thomas Jones. I think Benson can work. The blocking wasn't there a lot of times and the play calling was terrible (especially on the fourth and 1). Does Turner ever run outside the tackles?
  • The Bears lost to a VERY good team on the road. The Chargers probably should have been in the SB last year. This sets the bar for how the Bears need to execute to get a championship. There is no way they will not be back deep into the playoffs if they play at least at the same level of intensity they brought to San Diego.

2007-09-10 - Dvoracek Gone for the Year (Posted By: Operator)
Dusty Dvoracek joins Mike Brown on the IR list for the season, also with a knee injury. He missed all of last year with a foot injury. If the Bears are looking to replace him with another white guy with long hair, Kevin Greene is available, a 5 time Pro Bowler, but 45 years old...

2007-09-03 - Final cuts for 2007 team (Posted By: Operator)
Final Cuts
Not much excitement here... Ball made it... Leak didn't.

2007-09-02 - Olsen's injury status (Posted By: Arme)
As a result of Lovie Smith's brilliant move of playing Greg Olsen well into the second quarter, it looks like the No. 1 draft pick will miss the season opener with a knee sprain. Hopefully, it will not be something that lingers the entire season. It's really inexcusable that this guy was on the field when almost every other starter had been off the field for an entire quarter. Supposedly, there are offensive plays designed specifically for Olsen to get the ball, and now he is going to miss a very big opening game against the Chargers.
Ridiculous.

2007-09-01 - Former Bears QB coach involved with HGH (Posted By: Arme)
Former Bears' QB Coach Wade Wilson could possibly be suspended for five games and fined $100,000 for his involvement in purchasing HGH (Human Growth Hormone). What's troubling is that it looks like this was going on during his tenure with the Bears (2004-2006). Wilson insists that he was taking the substance himself to "improve the quality of his life", due to symptoms of diabetes. It begs the question: Was he also supplying Bears players? Keep an eye on this story. It will be interesting to see where this goes.
